| Super Bowl Ticket Questions Dear Ticket Guy,
When it comes to the Super Bowl:
What is the best way to get a deal on tickets?
How can I get tickets for FACE VALUE?
What do you think tickets will go for the day of the game? Stephen Ray Fairfield, CT Dear Stephen Ray, The best way to get a deal is to put some work in, the same way the scalpers
get tickets.
Once you get to Houston you do not have to spend 20 hours a day looking for tickets like they do but you can do little things to help your cause. For example, simply ask everyone you encounter if they have any extra tickets. So much of it is luck, right place, right time kind of thing. I also suggest making a small sign that says I NEED TICKETS and pinning it to your shirt. I have made deals standing in line at airports, walking out of bathrooms, having lunch, etc. Even if you do not score tickets, unless you are very shy, it can be fun, its a conversation piece. Everyone will
have something to say to you like "me too", "what are they going for", "if you
find any let me know, I need them too".
If this does not work for you, the best way to get a deal from brokers is to call
a few of them from the newspaper a few hours before the game. If they have any left
and the market has not gotten crazy for some reason (and it can), they will be ready to deal.
The last resort is the stadium. You have to be careful but sometimes prices can
get really low just before kick-off. In New Orleans two years ago you could get in
for less than face value. It got ugly.
Fave value? The obvious way to get them for face value is to enter the NFL lottery every year and you might just get lucky. The other way is to camp out at the box office at the stadium all day the day of the game. Believe it or not but 4 of the last 5 years they have released tickets at the ticket window and at least the first person in line has got tickets. In Atlanta a few years ago they released probably 30 or 40 tickets just before kick-off. VIPs not showing up becuase of the ice that year.
Day of the ga,e? My feeling is that the ticket will hold at about $1200 a ticket. I do not think it will go below $1000. But Super Bowls can surprise you the day of the game based on factors like the weather and by how many people actually drive in looking for tickets. $700 a ticket or $2500 a ticket the day of the game would not surprise me either way. If you go this route, just be patient, shop around and make sure you feel very comfortable
about who you do business with. There will be quite a few people that will get burned by fake tickets.
Good luck.
